EuroRegions

The EasyWay programme is divided into 8 "Euro-Regions" which form the core of the programme, developing the deployment activities including the preparatory studies in their regions. Euro-Regions are also responsible for programme management within the framework set out by the EasyWay programme.

Partners within the Euro Regions will be determined by each Euro-Region. The tasks are in principle:

  • To perform the Deployment Activities including the preparatory studies
  • To report to and assist the EasyWay Steering Committee and contribute to the EasyWay Secretariat Function
  • To handle the overall administrative project management
  • To conduct the Deployment Activities reporting
  • To formulate proposals for Expert and Studies Groups
  • To carry out assessment of the regional deployment activities
  • To nominate representatives of working groups

The Euro-Regions Steering Committees are made up of Members States (federal and/or Regional depending on the different MS internal structure) representatives and of road operators acting on behalf a MS delegation. The Euro Regions are organised on a TERN corridor basis that have similar problems and consistent traffic flows (Rhone, Benelux, Ruhr, Atlantic, Alpine, etc. corridors). Partner’s participation to the Euro Region SC is mandatory for their respective Euro-Regions. The Euro Region SCs are the structure where all MS and road operators taking part to the programme are committed to deploy the ITS services and infrastructure to address the mobility, road safety and sustainable transport objectives. EasyWay being a deployment project (90% of the budget), the Member States are very much committed within this programme as they are the ones who are in charge of the deployment of ITS on the TERN, and finance it with 80%. This ensures that EasyWay will have a direct and quick impact on the mobility, environment and road safety, the deployments being performed each year of the programme.
