Workshop on “Abnormal transports in Europe – Services for road authority and transport industry” in Hamburg on March 8th 2012.

On 8th of March 2012, Experts on abnormal transports from public administration will meet high level professionals from the industry discussing the challenges of transporting abnormal goods. This workshop, arranged by EasyWay VIKING and EasyWay ESG 3, will take place in Hamburg. As the market for oversize cargo transportation is still growing on a high level, modern solutions on the information flow and the management of applications and permissions have to be established. Crossing the EU boundaries with an abnormal laden transport is still a complex work for the involved parties.

Applications have to be filed in time to the appropriate authority. Combined with the increasing volumes, this will lead to technical, organizational and legal problems. In the past, several projects and companies have developed different ways of solving these problems. The results will be presented on this workshop and developed solutions supporting authorities and industry will be shown. This event will be an excellent opportunity for an in-depth discussion on a specialized field of transport services, don´t miss it! Sustainable Freight Transports Workshop 23 of May 2012

23 of May will EasyWay VIKING/EasyWay ESG 3 arrange a workshop in Brussels to discuss the challenges and the role of the Road Authority/Road Operator to create a Sustainable Freight Transport System. Please observe that the date has been changed to the 23 of May.

Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS) is one of the best solutions to optimise and create efficient freight transports. A lot has been achieved the last years to integrate smart solutions in the transport sector but still the transport system is not sustainable and the trend is heading in the wrong direction. The situation today is characterized by increasing emissions from the transport sector due to a growing demand for transport services, but also by fierce competition among the transport service providers, which also have to cope with market fluctuations; a situation which offer little incentives for investments in new technologies or advanced management systems.

Road Authorities/Road Operators (RA/RO) in Europe have an important role in the actions that need to be taken to reach a sustainable freight transport system with support of ITS. It is important to sort out the role of the RA/RO to support the market in the development and deployment of systems and services for freight transports.

The workshop will discuss the role of the Road Authorities/Road operators and get different views from different actors. The participants will also get presentation of the viability studies Remote Freight Information and Seamless Traffic Information Management that have analysed the role of the Road Authorities/Road Operators to create smart solutions for the freight transport sector. It will be an opportunity to discuss new trends, new services and different perspective of freight transports. For more information please contact Christian Udin (Christian.udin@sweco.se).
