ITS Data Quality is needed to guarantee ITS services provision. However, the definition of data quality is not an easy task and several discussions are being developed in the frame of ITS research and deployments.

In the frame of EasyWay, the ICT Expert and Study Group created a task force related to Data Quality. In order to have a general vision of the data quality concepts, examples and best practices, the experts involved in EasyWay project has develop a document “The Data Quality Aspects in ITS Framework and Best Practices”.

The document has two different parts: the first one dedicated to find a common definition and the second one is an Appendix, with a collection of experiences regrouped as best practices. Concretely, the best practices on data quality are:

  • Fast detection systems with CCTV cameras.(CENTRICO)
  • Road condition assessment with friction sensors (VIKING)
  • The RDS-TMC Plus service in Austria (CONNECT)
  • Weigh in motion for asset management (STREETWISE)
  • Improving data quality on data capture stations based on loop (ARTS)
  • Automatic Number Plate Recognition System – A1 Pilot Project Romania (ITHACA)
  • Travel time information service in Lyon (SERTI)

You can find the document here (you need to be logged-in to view the document).
