London 2012 - Call for papers

It’s time to tell the world about our achievements and why it is time for ITS! We are therefore pleased to announce that the call for papers for the 2012 Annual Forum in London is now open.

We would be very grateful to receive your abstracts on the following main themes:

 The results of EasyWay

  • How ITS saves time, saves lives and saves the environment
  • How ITS saves money and delivering low cost ITS
  • How ITS delivers greater transport efficiency and supports the economy

Within these themes we would like you to consider the following perspectives:

  • The application of the Deployment Guidelines
  • The influence of the ITS Directive
  • The place in the service delivery chain
  • The realisation of benefits
  • Pan-European ITS across borders and along international corridors

In addition, we would also like papers that address the following thought provoking questions which we hope will stimulate some positive discussions:

The future of European ITS

  • Where do we need European harmonisation?
  • How long will we need roadside infrastructure for?
  • Is there a role for the road operator in the future?
  • Who will have the best data and what will they do with it?

We are also open to other suggestions that fit with our theme and topics.

How you should submit your abstract

As an incentive you will see that people who submit an abstract for the Forum can make use of the early bird discount for a longer period of time.

If your proposed paper is accepted you will be given support in the lead up and during the Forum including audio visual equipment and presentation templates.

We have created a template to help you submit the paper to our dedicated email address given below. Annual_Forum_Abstract_Form_0_4.doc

Please use this and fill out as much as you can. Some questions in the form may not be relevant to your proposed paper.

Selection of Papers

We wish to select a broad spectrum of papers from across the EasyWay project and associated use of ITS across Europe. We would like to see every country represented.

A panel selected from people already in the EasyWay project will be formed and they will select the papers using the abstract and information requested.

Timetable

The deadline for submissions of a proposed paper is 31st May 2012. Please be aware you will receive a discount for submission.

You will be informed as soon as possible if your proposal has been successful. We aim to do this by 31 July 2012.

Please submit your abstracts on the template and send to this address: ITS@highways.gsi.gov.uk.
